Category Mens II (Handicap 13-24)
Category Ladies (Handicap 36 and below)
Tournament scores are calculated using Stableford points based on the player’s handicap calculated using System 36 where "handicap reduction points" for each hole are assigned accordingly to calculate the player's total number of handicap strokes for the tournament. The player's tournament handicap is calculated by subtracting the total points from 36.
Net Result | Handicap Points |
Double Bogey or worse | 0 point |
Bogey | 1 point |
Par and better | 2 points |
Stableford Score
Players are allocated a certain number of points on a hole depending on the net score of the player.
The aim of Stableford is to accumulate highest number of points over the course of 18 holes.
Using the player's handicap calculated based on System 36, a certain number of strokes are allocated on each hole. The table of points is based on the net score of the individual player (after handicap adjustment) as follows:
Net Result | Points |
Double Bogey or worse | 0 point |
Bogey | 1 point |
Par | 2 points |
Birdie | 3 points |
Eagle | 4 points |
Albatross | 5 points |
- Category I: Mens
- Category II: Mens
- Category III: Ladies
- The Tournament Committee will be responsible for the addition of gross scores, and the computing of System 36 handicap as well as the determination of a player's Stableford score.
- The player is responsible for entering his gross score for every hole including penalties incurred. Failure to enter a gross score for any hole will mean the player has scored a Double Bogey or more on such hole.
- All players must submit their respective scorecards duly signed and counter signed as verification by all flight members no later than 20 minutes after the completion of play.
- A scorecard is deemed to have been submitted when the player leaves the scoring area, and no changes will be entertained thereafter.
In the event that two players finish with the same scores during the tournament, the last 9, 6, 3 and 1 hole(s) and hole-by-hole with a lower handicap, shall decide the winner. If the result is still undecided, the winner will be chosen by drawing lots.
The last hole of a course always applies, irrespective of where and how a player begins.
- Players must provide the Tournament Committee with a current confirmation of their handicap, when requested upon.
- A tournament player’s handicap must be valid at the time of entry on the day of the tournament.
- The last record of golfing scores the player has with the Singapore Golf Association must be within 3 months from the tournament date.
- A player belonging to more than one club and having different USGA Handicap Indexes at each club must use his lowest Handicap Index unless a valid explanation is acceptable to the Tournament Committee before commencement of play. Penalty for breach of rule – disqualification.
- A player’s handicap may be adjusted by the Tournament Committee prior to or during the tournament. The Tournament Committee’s decision shall be final as per section 7.2 of the USGA Handicap System Manual.
Play shall be in groups of maximum four (4) players.
Flight groupings will be determined by the Tournament Committee. The player shall start at the tee-off hole set by the Tournament Committee. In the absence of circumstances which warrant waiving the penalty of disqualification as provided in Rule 33-7, if a player arrives at his tee-off hole ready to play within five minutes after his tee-off, the penalty for failure to start on time shall be two strokes at the tee-off hole instead of disqualification. Penalty for lateness beyond five minutes is to be decided accordingly by the Tournament Committee.
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to change the flight groupings and tee-off times.
The attention of all players is drawn to Rule 6-7 regarding undue delay. In the interest of fair play the committee will not hesitate to impose the penalties provided by the Rule. The maximum time allocated for the completion of 18 holes is to be determined by the Tournament Committee.
The following conditions shall apply under Rule 33-1. If a group is observed to be out of position, i.e. it has lost substantially more than its starting interval or in the case of the first flight has taken in the opinion of the Golf Course Captain, an unacceptable amount of time to play any part of the golf course, the following action will be taken.
- The group is liable to be timed without warning.
- From the commencement of ant timing, if any player exceeds 50 seconds on a "first to play shot" or 40 seconds if it is a "second or third to play shot" he shall be deemed to have had a "bad time.
Penalty for breach of condition:
- One bad time – Warning from the official and told that if he has a further bad time he will be penalized.
- Two bad times – One stroke penalty.
- Three bad times – Further penalty of two strokes.
- Four bad times – Disqualification.
A player whose group is timed will have a bad time carried forward in the round even if the group subsequently arrives back in position or within time as may be specified by the Golf Course Captain.
The Tournament Committee will make every effort to complete an event in its entirety. However, the Tournament Committee reserves the right to suspend or abandon play as necessary if weather-related circumstances require such action. In the unlikely event the course is unplayable and play is abandoned or other conditions warrant such action, the Tournament Committee will then determine the tournament results and all players will be informed accordingly.
Any dispute and/or appeal that arises during the tournament must be put forward to the Tournament Committee as soon as practicable upon completion of the tournament, and no later than 30 minutes after completion of the play.
The penalty of disqualification may, in exceptional cases, be waived, modified or imposed by the Tournament Committee.
If a referee has been appointed by the Tournament Committee, his decision is final.
In the absence of a referee, any dispute and/or appeal of the Rules shall be referred to the Tournament Committee whose decision shall be final.
